Estonian TV Girls’ choir and conductor Aarne Saluveer in Argentina


 

From August 3 till 10, the 9th World Symposium on Choral Music will take place in Puerto Madryn, Argentina and Estonian TV Girls’ Choir, conducted by Aarne Saluveer, is the first Estonian choir that has been invited to participate in this event. Saluveer will also conduct one of the master classes.

The choir and Saluveer arrived in Argentina on July 27 and since that time they have had six concerts (in Pilar, Adrogué, La Plata). Mainly the programs have consisted of Estonian choral music (Veljo Tormis, Arvo Pärt, Urmas Sisask, Cyrillus Kreek, Tõnu Kõrvits), but they have also performed works by Gustav Holst, Ástor Piazzolla, Pekka Kostiainen, Michael Bojesen ja Egil Hovland.

Aarne Saluveer’s master class, entitled Repertoire for Youth Choirs, will take place from August 8 till 10. In the framework of the symposium, the Estonian TV Girls’ choir will give three concerts, including the gala concert on the last evening with three other choirs (Coro de Cámara de Quilmes from Argentina, Camerata Musica Limburg from Germany and Salt Lake Choral Artists from the U.S.).
