Martin Kuuskmann will play today Tõnu Kõrvits’s “Song to the Far Away Friend” (2005) for solo bassoon for the fist time. Concerts from the series “Music in the morning” will take place from 12 to 15 February at 10.30 a.m. in Vancouver Academy of Music. Kuuskmann is joined by bass trombonist David Taylor, their programme consists arrangements of works by Scott Joplin, Frescobaldi, Bach, Schubert and Chopin. Estonian-born Kuuskmann, presently active in USA, have given premieres of Kõrvits’s works formerly – in 2004 he played solo part in the first performance of “Beyond the Solar Fields” in Tallinn.
