Concert „Estonian Miniatures”

Concert „Estonian Miniatures” dedicated to the 90th anniversary of Estonian Republic will take place in several places in Estonia. The programme consists of Estonian miniatures for string instruments by Enn Võrk, Rudolf Tobias, Heino Eller and Tõnu Kõrvits, performed alternately with Estonian poetry of the last three centuries. Music will be performed by Tobias String Quartet: Maano Männi (violin), Kristjan Hallik (violin), Toomas Nestor (viola) and Aare Tammesalu (cello), poetry is selected and read by Estonian actress Anu Lamp. Concerts will take place on February 15 at 3 p.m. in Estonia Concert Hall, February 21 at 7 p.m. in Pärnu Concert Hall, February 22 in Keila Culture Centre and February 26 at 4 p.m. in Ahtme School of Arts. Concerts are organised by State Concert Institute Eesti Kontsert.

Tobias String Quartet, founded in 2000, has been regularly given concerts in Estonia as well as abroad (Stockholm, Berlin). The quartet’s first CD was released for the German label Erdenklang in 2003. Tobias String Quartet has recorded for Estonian Radio chamber music by Lepo Sumera, Veljo Tormis and Tõnis Kaumann. Their repertoire also includes masterpieces of the world’s quartet literature.
