Ensemble Resonabilis in St. Petersburg

On February 24, ensemble Resonabilis will perform in St. Mary Finnish Church in St. Petersburg to celebrate the 90th anniversary of Estonian Republic. Concert-sermon presents music by Estonian composers Heino Eller, Margo Kõlar, Ester Mägi, Arvo Pärt, Veljo Tormis and Helena Tulve. Concert will take place in cooperation with Estonian Consulate General in St. Petersburg.

The ensemble with unique selection of instruments is staffed by Iris Oja (voice), Kristi Mühling (kannel), Tarmo Johannes (flute) and Aare Tammesalu (cello). Composers from Estonia and abroad have written for Resonabilis to create a new repertoire: Margo Kõlar, Tatjana Kozlova, Kristjan Kõrver, Age Hirv, Märt-Matis Lill, Malle Maltis, Daan Manneke (Netherlands), Antti Auvinen (Finland), Santa Ratniece (Latvia), David Helbich (Germany). One of the important aims for the ensemble is to perform such pieces of western contemporary classics that are not often played in Estonian concert halls.
