The first Wagner’s CD from Neeme Järvi

On February 23 and 24 Neeme Järvi conducted once again Royal Scottish National Orchestra, at Glasgow Royal Concert Hall and Edinburgh Festival Theatre. Main composer in the programme was Richard Wagner, in addition the Scottish première of “The Ring, an Orchestral Adventure” by the Dutch composer and percussionist Henk de Vlieger and Haydn’s Symphony No.101 ‘Clock’. The performances coincided with CD of Henk de Vlieger’s symphonic arrangement of music from Wagner’s Ring Cycle, released on January 28, 2008. This CD reunites a long-standing and much celebrated partnership between the RSNO, its Conductor Laureate Neeme Järvi and Chandos Records, being the first recording in fifteen years with three parties combined, and continues the globally recognised award-winning partnership of the esteemed Estonian conductor and Scotland’s national orchestra, which has produced 67 recordings over the past 23 years.

“This is the first time I have recorded the music of Wagner and I hope it is the first among many following ones. It was a great pleasure creating music with the RSNO who are in excellent form right now. It is also great to be working with Chandos once again, and I look forward to continue our fruitful relationship,” says Maestro Järvi. Järvi’s very first Wagner’s CD was recorded over three days at the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall in August 2007. Neeme Järvi and RSNO peformed then also at the 60th anniversary of Edinburgh International Festival, opening the programme with poems “Dawn” and “Twilight” by the Estonian classical composer Heino Eller (1887–1970).
