Concert titled Konvulsioonid in Tallinn Art Hall Gallery

A new concert in series Concerts in Art Hall will be held on January 18 at 5 pm. Saxophonist Ivo Lille and pianist Jorma Toots will perform in the art Hall Gallery. The concert series is organized by Association of Estonian Professional Musicians. At the same time with the concert it is the last opportunity to see the photo exhibition Tagasi Peipsi äärde, Vene vanausulised Eestis (Prichudie, Revisited and Russian Old Believers in Estonia).

The program of the concert consists of music from Estonian composers like Eduard Tubin, Hillar Kareva, Age Hirv, Mihkel Kerem and Kristjan Kõrver. Age Hirv’s piece Threnody and Mihkel Kerem’s piece Five Days from December are written for Ivo Lille and Jorma Toots. The title of the concert is derived from Hillar Kareva’s piece Konvulsioonid.

As a duo Ivo Lille and Jorma Toots started to perform together in 2000. They have given concerts in all over Estonia and in concert series Upbeat in Norway, Sweden, Latvia and Lithuania. They have recorded all pieces for saxophone and piano by Hillar Kareva in Estonian Public Broadcasting and a CD with the music will be released soon.

Jorma Toots graduated from Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre in Lilian Semper’s piano class and Prof. Matti Reimann’s chamber ensemble class. He has performed with different partners in all kinds of chamber music competitions and festivals. Next to chamber music, he is also active as a jazz musician. Currently, Jorma Toots is a teacher in Tartu Music School and lecturer of instrumental music in Tartu University.

Ivo Lille has graduated from Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre as a saxophonist and he has supplemented himself in Sibelius Academy in Helsinki. He performs classical as well as jazz music as a soloist and chamber musician. Since 1998 he works as a teacher in Nõmme Music School and from 2004 in Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre.
