„Young Talents“ at Estonian Concert Hall

On January 22, at 7 pm Oksana Sinkova (flute) and Andres Kontus (trombone), laureates of the Estonian Wind Instrumentalists Competition 2008 are performing at Estonian Concert Hall with Tallinn Chamber Orhestra, conducted by Toomas Vavilov. Program consists of works by Tõnu Kõrvits, Erkki-Sven Tüür, Johann Georg Albrechtsberger and Giuseppe Saverio Raffaele Mercadante.

Flutist Oksana Sinkova studied at the Estonian Academy of Music with Neeme Punder, Matti Helin and Imants Sneibis, receiving Bachelor’s Degree in 2002 and Master’s Degree in 2006. Currently she is continuing her postgraduate studies at the same academy. Sinkova has won competitions in Estonia, Finland and Latvia and given solo concerts at several concert venues in Europe. As a soloist, she has performed with Tallinn Chamber Orchestra, Symphony Orchestra of Narva, Tartu Chamber Orchestra and Vanemuine Theatre Symphony Orchestra.

Trombone player Andres Kontus has studied at the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre. He graduated from Aarhus Royal Music Academy in 2006. He has gained recognition from several competitions and has played in Aarhus, Aalborg and Malmö Symphony Orchestras, in Randers Chamber Orchestra, Klüvers Big Band and Aarhus Sinfonietta. Since 2005, Kontus has played in the Estonian National Symphony Orchestra and since 2006, he has been a lecturer at the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre. He is also the keyboard player at the rock band Contus Firmus.
