Annual Prizes of the Estonian Choral Association

On January 31, Estonian Choral Association handed over its annual prizes in traditional concert-ceremony in Estonia Concert Hall, Tallinn. The conductor of the year is Triin Koch (conductor of Tartu University Chamber Choir and Tartu University Academic Female Choir). The conductor-music teacher of the year is Niina Esko (music teacher and conductor in Kuusalu Gymnasium and in Music Studio of Estonian Television Children’s Programs), young conductor of the year is Darja Selivanova (Pastušenko) and the orchestra conductor of the year is Arno Anton (conductor of Rõngu and Otepää brass band). The choirs of the year are Tartu University Chamber Choir and Tallinn Secondary Science School Mixed Choir. South Estonian Youth Brass (conductors Aavo Ots and Priit Sonn) was selected as the wind orchestra of the year. Sponsors of the year are city of Tartu and company Viljandi Õhumeister. Deed of the year is Festival Gustav Ernesaks 100 and the organizers of the year are Kaie Tanner (general secretary of Estonian Choral Association) and Maret Oja (organizer of Alo Mattiisen Music Days). The choral music CD of the year is Eesti laul (Estonian Song) performed by Tartu Academic Male Choir.

Prize winners were selected among 65 nominees by Music Council of Estonian Choral Association.
