On February 14, ensemble Una Corda will perform at Kardiorg Palace at 6 pm. Concert will be held within the framework of the series Academic Chamber Music, organized by the Association of Estonian Professional Musicians. The members of the ensemble are Kristi Mühling (Estonian chromatic kannel), Liis Jürgens (harp) and Ene Nael (harpsichord). In addition to solo pieces and arrangements for the ensemble of the different works, the program also includes three premiers: Silmajad by Helena Tulve, Line by Mirjam Tally and Glockenspiel Box by Elo Masing. The program offers also Tulve’s Silmaja and …il neige, Jürgens’s Pendulum, Raimo Kangro’s Piano Suite Op. 1, Peeter Süda’s Gigue (à la Bach) and Johann Sebastian Bach’s choral Jesu bleibet meine Freunde from cantata No. 147.
Una Corda
This concert will be the first public performance for Una Corda. The ensemble combines together instruments, which produce sound by plucking the string but have different timbre. The idea of founding this ensemble with unique selection of instruments dates back to the year 2004, when Tulve’s …il neige for harpsichord and kannel was premiered in Fourth International Harpsichord Days in Tallinn. That unique sound motivated to add also harp to the ensemble.
