Vocalissimo: Taavi Tampuu

Estonian singers introducing concert series Vocalissimo will present baritone Taavi Tampuu and pianist Kadri-Ann Sumera in Tallinn Meder Hall on February 21 at 6 pm. The program consists of vocal music by Franz Schubert, Pyotr Tchaikovsky and Mart Saar.

Taavi Tampuu graduated from Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre in Ludimlla Issakova’s and Taru Valjakka’s singing class. He studied from 1999 to 2001 in Maria Venuti’s singing class at Karlsruhe University of Music and in 2004 received a Master’s degree with guidance of Nadia Kurem at the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre. In 2005 he won first prize at the Hendrik Krumm Competition for young singers. In addition to singing in opera productions of Estonian National Opera, Taavi Tampuu is also active as a concert performer – he has worked with pianist Kadri-Ann Sumera and performed solo parts in vocal-symphonic music.

Kadri-Ann Sumera studied in Tallinn Music High School with Merike Bürger, Ülle Sisa and Maigi Pakri, graduated cum laude from the Estonian Academy of Music under Prof. Peep Lassmann in 1999 and obtained Master degree in Köln Hochschule für Musik under Prof. Arbo Valdma in 2004. 2000/2001, Sumera studied as a grantee of DAAD in Köln Hochschule für Musik. Sumera has gained recognition at several competitions and festivals both in Estonia and internationally. Kadri-Ann Sumera is one of the most outstanding Estonian young pianist whose repertoire comprises wide range of music from Baroque to present day and who has been prominent as requested performer of contemporary music.

Kadri-Ann Sumera works as a concert-master in Heino Eller Tartu Music School since 2007 and is active as a host in Estonian classical music radio Klassikaraadio. She has been Estonian Association of Professional Musicians’s grantee in 2006 and 2007, vice chairman of the board since 2007 and chairman since spring 2008.
