Since 2006, Estonian composer Mirjam Tally is living and working on island of Gotland and recently honored with one of the most significant music awards in Sweden – Christ Johnson-priset by the Swedish Royal Music Academy for her orchestral work „Turbulence”, which was performed during last year in several international music festivals.
Tally’s music is known of its playful contrasts and courageous experiments with sound and texture. Exotic instruments and electronics are often in use to interpret her border-crossing musical ideas in the most effective way.
Tonight’s meeting is hosted by Timo Steiner, some of Mirjam Tally’s music will be played by percussionist Anto Õnnis and accordion player Jaak Lutsoja. Ülo Pikkov as a friend of Mirjam and a director of numerous animation films, will speak about co-operation with composer.
