Ensemble Resonabilis

In February, the untraditional series of concerts/walk-abouts entitled ReVisioon III of ensemble Resonabilis will continue. This year’s opening concert will be held on February 26 at Rotermanni Old Flour Storage And New Flour Storage at 7 pm. In addition to music by Antti Auvinen, Roxanna Panufnik and Helmut Lachenmann also Sonata for solo cello (2002) and Sappho’s Fragments for voice, flute, Estonian zither and cello (2007) by Märt-Matis Lill will be performed.

Series ReVision that brings together visual arts and music started in spring 2006. The aim of ReVision III is to create a dialogue between music and architecture. For the stops of the concerts Resonabilis have selected buildings that have completed quite recently. In cooperation with architects and building keepers the music is carefully chosen to fit with acoustics and atmosphere of the concert venues. The next concerts in the series ReVision III will take place in March, April and May in Tallinn and Tartu.

The ensemble Resonabilis (Iris Oja – voice, Kristi Mühling – kannel, Tarmo Johannes – flute and Aare Tammesalu – cello) with unique selection of instruments was founded in 2002 by Tarmo Johannes and Kristi Mühling from Estonian renowned contemporary music performers. Composers from Estonia and abroad have written for Resonabilis to create a new repertoire: Margo Kõlar, Tatjana Kozlova, Kristjan Kõrver, Age Hirv, Märt-Matis Lill, Malle Maltis, Daan Manneke (Netherlands), Antti Auvinen (Finland), Santa Ratniece (Latvia), David Helbich (Germany). One of the important aims for the ensemble is to perform such pieces of Western contemporary classics that are not often played in Estonian concert halls.
