Mari Targo and Jaan Kapp will perform in the series „Young Talents“. New work by Mirjam Tally will be premiered

On March 3 at 7 pm, concert series Young Talents presents the laureates of the First Pärnu Violin Competition 2008 and competition-festival for Estonian young musicians Con Brio 2008 at Estonia Concert Hall, Tallinn. Violinist Mari Targo and pianist Jaan Kapp will perform with Tallinn Chamber Orchestra conducted by Mikk Murdvee. Targo will give the world premiere of Birds and Shadows for violin and chamber orchestra (2008) by Mirjam Tally and Kapp will play Piano Concerto in E major BWV 1053 by Johann Sebastian Bach. The program also consists of orchestral pieces by Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach, Heino Eller and Pehr Henrik Nordgren.

Mari Targo graduated from Tallinn Music High School in 2005 with Niina Murdvee and continues her violin studies with Professor Mare Teearu at the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre. In 2007/2008 Targo was an exchange student in Poznań, Poland where she improved her skills under the guidance of Professor Jarosław Żołnierczyk. In 2007 Targo participated in the summer courses in Austria (with Professor Eszter Haffner and Professor Paul Roczek) and won the first prize at the competition for chamber ensembles organized by EAMT. Targo is active as a contemporary music performer, she belongs to the new music ensemble of the EAMT. She has also participated in author concerts of Louis Andriessen and Krzysztof Penderecki.

Jaan Kapp (b. 1988) graduated form Tallinn Music High School in 2007 with Ada Kuuseoks and continues his piano studies with Professor Ivari Ilja at the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre. He has gained recognition at many piano competitions, both national and international. In 2004, Jaan Kapp represented Estonia at the Eurovision Young Musicians Competition in Luzern. He has given solo performances in Estonia, Russia and Austria.
