Estonian premiere of Tõnu Kõrvits’s „Scketches of Thule“ at Tallinn

On March 4 at 7 pm, Scketches of Thule by Tõnu Kõrvits will have its Estonian premiere at Tallinn St. John’s Church. Piece will be performed by saxophone quartet SaxEst (Ivo Lille - soprano saxophone, Virgo Veldi - alto saxophone, Lauri Sepp - tenore saxophone, Sulev Sommer - baritone saxophone) and organist Ulla Krigul. The concert program of SaxEst also consists of In quattro quarti (2005) by Galina Grigorjeva and works by Robert Heppener, Louis Vierne, Enjott Schneider and Hans Peter Graf.

 

Scketches of Thule for saxophone quartet and organ is composed in 2008 and is commissioned by Amstel Quartet. World premiere of the work took place in February 2008 in Amsterdam, where it was performed by Amstel Quartet and organist Pieter van Dijk.
