Ensemble Una Corda will perform in Estonian manor schools

On March 30, ensemble Una Corda will give two concerts within the framework of Estonian young musicians concert series Chamber Music in the Manor Schools.

Una Corda

The program consists of both arrangements of different works for the ensemble and pieces specially composed for Una Corda. …il neige by Helena Tulve, Line by Mirjam Tally, Gigue (à la Bach) by Peeter Süda and choral Jesu bleibet meine Freunde from cantata No. 147 by Johann Sebastian Bach will be performed.

Concerts will be held on March 30 at 10 am at Kärstna manor and at 2.40 pm at Vana-Võidu manor.

The ensemble Una Corda combines together instruments which produce sound by plucking the string but have different timbre. The idea of founding this ensemble with unique selection of instruments dates back to the year 2004, when Tulve’s …il neige for harpsichord and kannel was premiered in Fourth International Harpsichord Days in Tallinn. That unique sound motivated to add also harp to the ensemble.

Chamber Music in Manor Schools takes place two times in the year in different Estonian manor schools. The main goal of the series is to bring high-level chamber music to the students and in the same time enrich local cultural life. Chamber Music in Manor Schools is organized by NGO Music Friends Association.
