Youth Choir of Tallinn Music High School presents new CD

On March 30 at 7 pm, Youth Choir of Tallinn Music High School presents new CD Sounding on the Fields in Tallinn Blackheads' Brotherhood House. On the presentation concert the choir conducted by Ingrid Kõrvits will perform music by Arvo Pärt, Veljo Tormis, Tõnu Kõrvits, Mart Siimer, Urmas Sisask and Cyrillus Kreek. Soloists are Merit Männiste, Kristiina Pruul, Eliise Allingu, Kadi Jürgens, Marion Aruvee, Kadi Padur and Ingrit Malleus.

The new CD of Youth Choir includes Estonian Sacred Folk Songs: “Wake Up, My Heart”, “How Blessed Are the Saints in Heaven”, “The Little Bird Has No Worries”, “Blessed Is the Man” by Cyrillus Kreek, “ Peace Upon You, Jerusalem” by Arvo Pärt, “Poetry of the Firetree” by Aivar Joonas, “On the Ways of Heaven” by Mart Siimer, “Ode to Love”, “Sounding on the Fields” by Urmas Sisask, “Shepherd’s Song”, “May Jesus, Thee Be Praised” by Tõnu Kõrvits and “Blizzard”, “Northern Lights” from Winter Patterns, “I Handmill Round Game” from Three Round Game Songs, “The Singer’s Childhood” and “Bridge of Song” by Veljo Tormis.

Youth Choir of Tallinn Music High School has grown out of Children’s Choir in the same school. The Choir was awarded with the first prize in international Franz Schubert Choir Competition in Vienna 2008 and grand prix in international competition Let the Peoples Sing in Köln 2005. The Youth Choir has performed in Estonian Song Celebrations and given concerts in Finland, Sweden, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Germany, Spain and Austria. In 2006 Youth Choir of Tallinn Music High School with Tallinn Chamber Orchestra and Estonian TV Girls’ Choir published CD New and old Christmas songs.
