Message from the Silk Road: The International Festival of Oriental Music from May 5 to 10 in Estonia and Latvia

Festival Orientthe first and so far the only Asian music dedicated festival in the Baltic region, is this time focusing on cultures of Silk Road countries.
The festival is introducing musicians from China, Japan, Iran, India, Afghanistan, Pakistan and Turkey. The concerts take place in Tallinn and Viljandi, Estonia and Riga and Ventspils, Latvia.

During the festival, a number of other related events will take place: from April 29 to May 8, photo exhibition "Images from the Silk Road" will be presented in the Concert Hall Estonia.


Oriental club "Mercados" provides an exhibition of Japanese calligraphy and ink painting at Ülemiste City (Lõõtsa str. 6) and on May 8 at 6 pm, a Japanese calligraphy master class will take place, the instructor is Ai Yoshida (assistant Kertu Bramanis). On May 8, from 4 pm to midnight at the same place, a documentary film "Silk Road marathon" by Aivo Spitsonok will be presented, the video record consists of sixteen half an hour lasting parts. The artistic director of the festival is Peter Vähi.
