Oratorio Pro Patria by Urmas Sisask performed on the opening ceremony of the Estonian Independence War's victory monument

Today late evening, on Vabaduse Square in Tallinn, oratorio Pro Patria by Urmas Sisask will be performed on the opening ceremony of the victory monument of Estonian Independence War.

The work will be performed by soloists, the Estonian Defense Forces’ Wind Orchestra and a large mixed choir, uniting almost 200 singers from Tallinn, Tartu and Pärnu, conductor Peeter Saan. The 40 minutes lasting oratorio was composed by Urmas Sisask in 2003 as a commission by the Estonian Defense Forces. The text of the oratorio is written by Jaan Lõo.

The opening ceremony begins today at 10 pm, but the victory monument will be opened on the first minutes of the 23rd June – the Victory Day and the St. John’s Day.
The ceremony will be broadcasted by Estonian National Television on Monday, June 22 at 22.55, repetition on Tuesday at 14.35.
