New improvisation album released by Anne-Liis Poll and Anto Pett

On January 23, Estonia’s most leading free improvisation duo – singer Anne-Liis Poll and pianist Anto Pett presented their newest album Dream Bird. Awakening in Tallinn Art Hall. The presentation evening included also an ImproMonoOpera – about 50 minutes lasting large-scale improvisation work, which as a genre has emerged during many years of cooperative improvisation.

Improvisation duo Anne-Liis Poll and Anto Pett has been existing since 2000 and they have been performing in many concerts and festivals in homeland as well as abroad (Warsaw, Vienna, Udine, Cardiff, Glasgow, Moscow etc). Their improvisation partners have been also Jaak Sooäär, Priit Lehto, Tanel Ruben, Kent Carter, Sylvain Kassap, François Rossé, Etienne Rolin and many others. Both, Anne-Liis Poll and Anto Pett are also teachers of free improvisation. In 2007, Anto Pett’s Teaching System was published by Fuzeau, the book has aroused interest in music education institutions all over the world.

The improvisations for Dream Bird. Awakening are recorded by Anne-Liis Poll (voice, percussion) and Anto Pett (piano, prepared piano) in Spring 2009 at the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre. The new release is a sequel of duo’s first CD Songs Set Free (2004).
