Hortus Musicus participates in 5th Eliat Chamber Music Festival Israel

Early Music Ensemble Hortus Musicus will perform at 5th Eliat Chamber Music Festival, which is held on February 18 to 27. Hortus Musicus’s concert will be on February 19 at 9 pm in the Hall at the Leonardo Club Hotel. The artistic director of the ensemble is Andres Mustonen and their program, titled Pilgrimage of Tunes, consists of music from Spain, Germany, Italy, Armenia, Turkey, India and Israel.

Next to Estonian musicians, also actors, soloists and ensembles from United Kingdom, Italy, Netherlands, Hungary, Germany, Austria, USA, China, Armenia, Russia, France, Georgia and Israel will perform in the festival. The Founder and General Director of the festival is Leonid Rozenberg and Artistic Director is Pavel Vernikov.

Early music consort Hortus Musicus was founded in 1972 by its artistic leader violinist Andres Mustonen and it is the oldest continuously working ensemble in its field in Eastern Europe. For more than 30 years, Hortus Musicus have investigated and presented in their programs European music from the 8th to 20th centuries. Special attention is paid to the contemporary new pieces written for Hortus Musicus. Ensemble has given concerts in most European countries, the U. S., Japan, Israel and the territory of the former Soviet Union and performed at most major early music festivals as well. Record companies Erdenklang, Musica Svecia, Forte, Finlandia Records and others have released several CD-s with different programs.
