Tobias String Quartet will perform in Cyprus

In the end of February, Tobias String Quartet will give two concerts in Cyprus.
On February 26, the quartet will perform at the concert dedicated to the anniversary of the Republic of Estonia in Nicosia, which is organized by Estonian Honorary Consul in Cyprus and ambassador in Athens. The program consists of music by Estonian composers – String Quartet No. 2 in C minor by Rudolf Tobias, Da pacem Domine by Arvo Pärt and Five Pieces for String Orchestra by Heino Eller.
On February 27, Tobias String Quartet will perform Four Estonian sacred folk tunes by Tõnu Kõrvits and string quartets by Joseph Haydn and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. The concert will be held in Paphos.
The concerts are supported by Estonian Ministry of Culture, Cultural Endowment of Estonia and the Association of Estonian Professional Musicians.

Tobias String Quartet, founded in 2000, has regularly given concerts in Estonia as well as abroad (Stockholm, Berlin, Helsinki, St. Petersburg, Riga). The quartet’s first CD was released under the German label Erdenklang in 2003. For Estonian Radio Tobias String Quartet has recorded chamber music by Lepo Sumera, Veljo Tormis, Jaan Rääts, Heino Eller and Tõnis Kaumann. Their repertoire also includes masterpieces of the world’s quartet literature. The quartet is named after Estonian composer Rudolf Tobias who composed the first string quartet in Estonian music literature.
