Urmas Sisask is The Musician of the Year 2010

Composer Urmas Sisask was chosen as the Musician of the Year 2010 by music editors of the Estonian Public Broadcasting. The Musician of the Year Gala will take place on January 9 at 4 pm at the Tallinn Song Festival Grounds Glass Hall where pianist Lauri Väinmaa, Mixed Choir of Estonia Society (conductor Heli Jürgenson), Children’s Choir Riinimanda and Mitte-Riinimanda youth and alumni choir ensemble (conductors Urve Uusberg and Urmas Sisask) will perform. The concert will be broadcast live on Estonian classical music radio Klassikaraadio and Vikerraadio.

Musician of the Year is ascribed to the musician who has furthered Estonian musical culture and collaborated with the Estonian Public Broadcasting. The honorable title of Musician of the Year was announced for the 29th time this year. Among the past awardees have been Ivo Linna (2009), Tiia-Ester Loitme (2008), Aarne Saluveer (2007), Anu Tali (2006), Rein Rannap (2002), Tõnu Kaljuste (1998), Tõnis Mägi (1997), Erkki-Sven Tüür (1996), Valter Ojakäär (1993), Alo Mattiisen (1988), Kalle Randalu (1982) and others.
