Annual Prizes of the Estonian Choral Association

On January 29, Estonian Choral Association handed over its annual prizes in traditional concert-ceremony in Estonia Concert Hall in Tallinn. Prize winners were selected among 80 nominees by Music Council of Estonian Choral Association.

The conductor of the year is Ingrid Kõrvits (conductor of Youth Choir of Tallinn Music High School);

The choirs of the year are Youth Choir of Tallinn Music High School and Tartu Boys’ Choir (conductors Undel Kokk and Annelii Traks);

The conductor-music teacher of the year is Anne Pääsuke (music teacher of Ridala Basic School and conductor of singing studio DO-RE-MI in Haapsalu);

The orchestra conductor of the year is Kahro Kivilo (wind instrument teacher and conductor of Brass Orchestra of Kose Church);

The young conductor of the year is Janne Fridolin;

The choral music CD of the year is “Morning of Freedom“ which presents songs for mixed and male choir by Konstantin Türnpu, performed by various choirs;

The cooperation prize of the Estonian Choral Association was awarded to young boy soloist Heldur Harry Põlda and Agreement prize to vocal pedagogue and choirs vocal coach Ludmilla Dombrovska;

Sponsors of the year are Põlva County Union of Local Authorities and Nopri Farm;

Deed of the year is concert-training program of English euphonium player Steven Meadi in Estonia;

The organizers of the year are Liidia Konsa (folk culture specialist of Tiigi Community House and organiser of Tartu Song Festivals) and Triinu Ojar (organiser of Võru Song Festival).
