Reopening of St. John’s Church in St. Petersburg

On February 20 at 1 pm, St. John’s Church in ST. Petersburg will be opened with festive concert. The performers are Estonian National Opera Symphony Orchestra, Estonian National Male Choir, soloists Marina Shaguch, Heli Veskus, Kädy Plaas, Oliver Kuusik, Rauno Elp, organist Piret Aidulo and conductors Arvo Volmer, Kuno Areng and Mikk Üleoja. The same concert can be listened also in the evening at 6 pm. Event will be broadcasted by Estonian Television at 6.45 pm.

Estonian National Male Choir will give a concert also in next day, on February 21 at 7 pm. Choir will be conducted by Mikk Üleoja. Concert belongs to the series „Baltic music festival“ that brings Estonian music and musicians to the St. John’s Church in St. Petersburg.

On February 22 at 7 pm, early music concert Hortus Musicus and Estonian Concert Choir may be listened in new concert venue.

Church of Estonian congregation was founded in 1860 and returned to the Estonia in 1997. Since 2001, regural services, Sunday school, concerts and exhibitions have taken place. Today the church is completely renovated, being also the concert venue of the state concert institute Eesti Kontsert.
