Baltic Music Festival in St. John’s Church in St. Peterburg

Newly reopened St. John’s Church in St. Petersburg offers concerts with diverse programs till the end of may. Concerts organised by Eesti Kontsert are converged under the title of Baltic Music Festival in St. John’s Church in ST. Petersburg.

On March 3 at 7 pm, Vardo Rumessen (piano) and string quartet of St. Petersburg Philharmonics will give a concert of music by Eduard Tubin, Eduard Oja and César Franck.

On March 10 at 7 pm concert Journey in Jazz will present Lembit Saarsalu (saxophones), Leonid Vintskevich (piano) and Toivo Unt (double bass). Evening will be hosted by jazz critic Vladimir Feyertag.

On March 17 at 7 pm, pianist Peeter Laul will preform workd by Arvo Pärt, Ferenc Liszt, Johannes Brahms, Frédéric Chopin, Claude Debussy and Maurice Ravel.

On March 20 at 7 pm, concert dedicated to Georg Ots will take place in St. John’s Church. where songs and opera arias from the repertoire of beloved and reknown baritone will be performed by Olga Pudova (soprano, Mariinsky Theatre), Helen Lokuta (soprano, Estonian National Opera), Nicolai Jezov (tenor, Mariinsky Theatre), Rauno Elp (baritone, Estonian National Opera), Larissa Gergijeva (piano, St. Petersburg). The host is Arne Mikk.

On March 31 at 7 pm, soprano Aile Asszonyi and cello octet Vivacello (Marius Järvi, Leho Karin, Johannes Teppo, Johannes Sarapuu, Aare Tammesalu, Villu Vihermäe, Andreas Lend and Teet Järvi) with their exceptional instrumentation will present rarely performed pieces: Heitor Villa-Lobos’s Bachianas brasileiras No 1 and No 5, Arvo Pärt’s L’abbé Agathon, Carl Vine’s Inner World and John Tavener’s Akhmatova Songs.
