Concert Saxofolia or Saxophone Craze in Pärnu

On March 2 at 7 pm, concert entitled Saxofolia or Saxophone Craze will take place in the chamber hall of Pärnu Concert Hall. Saxophonist Virgo Veldi and guitarist Heiki Mätlik will perform a program consisting of pieces by Johann Sebastian Bach, Arcangelo Corelli, Darius Milhaud, Heitor Villa-Lobos and Estonian composers Artur Lemba and Cyrillus Kreek.

Virgo Veldi and Heiki Mätlik performed with the same program at Harmi manor in October last year. The arrangements have been made by the musicians themselves.

Virgo Veldi works at the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre and is the member of the saxophone quartet Saxest. He has collaborated with pianists Ralf Taal, Mati Mikalai, Piia Paemurru, organists Ulla Krigul, Aare-Paul Lattik, Ines Maidre et al.

Highly valued guitar player Heiki Mätlik just returned from Belgium where he gave two concerts with Estonian and Turkish guitar music. Concerts took place on February 20 and 22 in Brussels and Antwerpen.
