Estonian premiere of Jüri Reinvere’s „Requiem“

On March 31 and April 2, Jüri Reinvere’s Requiem (2009) for flute, four male voices, reader and live-electronics (text by Jüri Reinvere) will receive its Estonian premiere in Tallinn and Pärnu within the framework of the new church music series VIVA ORATORIO. The first performance of Requiem took place in March 2009 in Helsingi and in 2010, the work was released on CD+DVD by re:pi:n media.

In addition to Reinvere’s work, the program also consists Requiem (1890) by Gabriel Fauré.

The aim of the concerts is to compare two requiems, one composed nowadays and the other in the Romantic era. The music will be performed by Mikael Schmid (flute, Belgium), Aarne Talvik (bass), Toomas Tohert (tenor), Rainer Vilu (baritone), Mikk Üleoja (tenor), Heldur Harry Põlda (boy soprano), Pärnu City Orchestra, mixed choir of the Georg Ots Tallinn Music School and conductors Mikk Üleoja and Mikk Murdvee.

Concerts will take place on March 31 at 8 pm at St. John’s Church in Tallinn and on April 2 at 7 pm at Pärnu Concert Hall. Concerts are organized in cooperation with Pärnu Philhamonic Society and Georg Ots Tallinn Music School.
