Concert „Saxofolia or Saxophone Craze“ in Jõgeva

Today, on April 20 at 7 pm, concert entitled Saxofolia or Saxophone Craze will take place in Jõgeva Music School. Saxophonist Virgo Veldi and guitarist Heiki Mätlik will perform a program consisting of pieces by Johann Sebastian Bach, Arcangelo Corelli, Darius Milhaud, Heitor Villa-Lobos and Estonian composers Artur Lemba and Cyrillus Kreek.

Virgo Veldi and Heiki Mätlik performed with the same program at Harmi manor in October last year and at Pärnu Concert Hall in March this year. The arrangements have been made by the musicians themselves.

Virgo Veldi works at the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre and is the member of the saxophone quartet Saxest. He has collaborated with pianists Ralf Taal, Mati Mikalai, Piia Paemurru, organists Ulla Krigul, Aare-Paul Lattik, Ines Maidre et al.

Highly valued guitar player Heiki Mätlik has collaborated with many well-known Estonian and foreign vocal and instrumental soloists (Arvo Leibur, Henry-David Varema, Urmas Vulp, Andres Uibo, Jaak Sooäär, Per Skareng, Kari Äikäs et al.). Since 1990, Mätlik has worked as a guitar lecturer at the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre. He has also given master classes in Estonia and abroad.
