Kai Rüütel at the Royal Opera

On May 11, 14, 19, 21 and 24 at 7 pm, young Estonian mezzo-soprano Kai Rüütel will participate in Giuseppe Verdi’s opera La traviata at London Royal Opera. The opera is directed by Richard Eyre and conducted by Yves Abel. Together with Rüütel as Flora Bervoix, other leading roles are sung by Dmitri Hvorostovsky, Ermonela Jaho, Saimir Pirgu, Eddie Wade, Robert Lloyd, Changhan Lim, Robert Anthony Gardiner and Sarah Pring.

Estonian mezzo-soprano Kai Rüütel studied singing at Tallinn Georg Ots Music School and Royal Conservatory of the Hague and received a Master’s degree from the Dutch National Opera Academy. She has also participated in master classes with Graciela Araya, Mark Tucker, Paula Chateauneuf, Ryland Davies, Muriel Corradini, Patricia MacMahon, Kenneth Montgomery, Carolyn Watkinson and Meinard Kraak. In September 2009, she joined the Jette Parker Young Artists Program and currently studies with Jon Thorsteinsson.
