Veljo Tormis Festival

From June 12 to August 7, Veljo Tormis Festival, dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the composer, will take place within the framework of the Nargen Festival. Festival offers seven different concerts of Tormis’s music at Noblessner Foundry in Tallinn, Market of Port of Tallinn and Omari Barn on Island of Naissaar.

The opening event of the festival will be Songs of Estonian Men, co-production of Nargen Opera and Von Krahl Theatre on June 12 at Noblessner Foundry, featuring soloists Taavi Eelmaa, Erki Laur, Juhan Ulfsak, Mart Koldits, Riina Maidre, Celia Roose, Mati Turi, Rainer Vilu, Jaak Johanson, Vahur Soonberg and others.

The other performers of the festival will be Estonian Television Girls’ Choir conducted by Aarne Saluveer, Villu Veski & Tiit Kalluste, Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir and Tallinn Chamber Orchestra under the guidance of Tõnu Kaljuste. Re-imagined and re-arranged Tormis’s music will be performed by young folk and electronic musicians Kirtana Rasa, 3Pead, Eva Mitreikina, Jaan Pehk and Muschraum.

The final event of the festival will be held on August 7 at Noblessner Foundry. Concert-performance Estonian Ballads will be performed by Estonian National Symphony Orchestra, Estonian National Male Choir, Choir of the State Concert Institute Eesti Kontsert, soloists Celia Roose, Kadri Hunt, Meelika Hainsoo, Liina Vahtrik, Tuule Kann, Iris Oja, Priit Pedajas, Toomas Tohert, Eve Härma, Kadri Ratt, Mart Johanson, Jaak Johanson, Ants Johanson, Kärt Johanson, Violeta Osula and Ingel Marlen Mikk, conductor Tõnu Kaljuste.

From August 17 to September 17, the Nargen Festival will also present the Arvo Pärt Festival, dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the composer.
