13th Suure-Jaani Music Festival

 


 

The 13th Suure-Jaani Music Festival will take place from June 17 to 23, organized by Suure-Jaani Parish Government and The State Concert Institute Eesti Kontsert. The festival is dedicated to three Estonian composers Artur Kapp, Eugen Kapp and Villem Kapp.

This year there will be two pre-concerts entitled Boléro, which will take place on June 13 at Tallinn Liberty Square underground parking ground and on June 14 at Suure-Jaani Secondary School. Violinist Mari-Liis Uibo, conductor Paul Mägi and Estonian National Symphony Orchestra will perform pieces by Artur Kapp, Bach/Stokowski, Dmitri Shostakovich and Maurice Ravel.

Suure-Jaani Music Festival offers concerts in different places, such as Suure-Jaani Church, Mart Saar House Museum, Vändra Church, the Kapps’ House Museum, Hüpassaare bog island, Kõpu Church etc.
The list of this year’s performers include Toomas Vavilov, René Soom, Signe Hiis, Aare Tammesalu, Andres Uibo, Arvo Leibur, Vladimir Miller, Mihhail Kruglov, Tallinn Chamber Orchestra, ensemble Mahavok, Orthodox Singers, Vox Clamantis, ensemble Una Corda et al.
There will also take place a competition for organists, meetings with Jaan-Eik Tulve, Erkki-Sven Tüür and Peeter Saul and in addition, photo exhibition „The Suure-Jaani Music Festival” by Jaanus Siim will be opened.

Suure-Jaani Music Festival was established in 1998. The artistic director of the festival is Andres Uibo.
