Tallinn Church Renaissance 2010

Concert-festival Tallinn Church Renaissance 2010 offers musical experiences in churches restored by Cultural Heritage Department of Tallinn. In cooperation with musical society Crescendo concerts free of charge is being organised in Thursdays. Heiki Mätlik, ensemble Hüüd ja Hääl, Ülo and Vambola Krigul, Kaia Urb and Jana Abzalon will perform music through centuries.

The aim of the restoration project Tallinn Church Renaissance initiated by Cultural Heritage Department of Tallinn in 2002 is to restore spectacular churches and open them to visitors. This year’s most capacious restoration is being held in Tallinn St. John’s church. Project extends till year 2011 when Tallinn will be given the title of European Capital of Culture.

August 5 at 6 p.m. in Tallinn St. John’s Church
Heiki Mätlik (guitar), Kaia Urb (soprano)

August 12 at 9 p.m. in Tallinn St. John’s Church
Vambola ja Ülo Krigul (percussion)
Not an ordinary concert, rather sound space where audience can participate in creation of musical works

August 19 at 6 p.m. in Tallinn Church of the Holy Ghost
Ensemble Hüüd ja Hääl (Kadri Hunt, Taavo Remmel, Marko Naissoo, Paul Daniel, Taavi Kerikmäe)
Sacred folk songs

August 26 at 6 p.m. in Nõmme Church
