Premiere of Te Deum by Mart Siimer

 

On August 27 at 6 pm, Mart Siimer’s Te Deum for three mixed choirs, two organs and string quartet will be premiered at the final concert of Pärnu Organ Festival in Pärnu St. Elizabeth’s Church. New piece will be performed by Mixed Choir Endla, Tallinn St. Charles’s Congregation Concert Choir, Mixed choir Sauer of Kuressaare Congregation, Girls’ Choir Elise and mixed choir of Pärnu St. Elizabeth’s Church, Piret Aidulo and Mart Siimer (organs), conductor Mikk Üleoja. The text of the work is brand-new translation of traditional Christian hymn, made by Vello Salo and Indrek Hirv. In addition, program includes also César Franck’s Psalm 150 that will be sung by Mixed Choir of Estonia Society.

At the same time, concert is an opening ceremony of the new organ of Pärnu St. Elizabeth’s Church. Organ is built by Kriisa Oreliehitus OÜ, that is lead by master Hardo Kriisa. Organ masters’ family company has made about 50 organs during nearly 125 years of activity. Due to the new choir organ, performances of large scale works for choir, orchestra and two organs will be possible in the future.
