Concerts of the ensemble Resonabilis in Helsinki, Tallinn and Wales

Within the framework of the cultural project Walestonia, ensemble Resonabilis will give two concerts in Helsinki and Tallinn and will perform at the reputable contemporary music festival Vale of Glamorgan Festival 2010 in Wales. Festival Walestonia dates back in 2008 when the 90th anniversary of the Republic of Estonia and the longstanding relations between Wales and Estonia were celebrated. The idea of the festival is to tie the Estonian and Welsh cultures.

The concerts of the Resonabilis will feature the Welsh mezzo soprano Siân Cameron. The concert programs tries to seek and bring out the ties between the cultures of Estonia, Britain and Wales, also new work by Helena Tulve will be performed.  


Ensemble Resonabilis

On August 31 at 5 pm, Resonabilis will perform at Alvar Alto Studio in Helsinki and on September 1 at 7 pm, at Theatrum Hall in Tallinn. In Tallinn, Helena Tulve’s brand new work South Wind, North Wind for voice, flute, Estonian kannel and cello (2010) will receive its world premiere performance. The program also includes music by Tatjana Kozlova, Arvo Pärt, Age Veeroos, Tõnu Kõrvits, Dai Fujikura and others.

The concerts within the framework of the Vale of Glamorgan Festival 2010 will take place on September 5 at 6 pm at St. Donats Arts Centre, St. Donats Castle and September 6 at 7.30 pm at Fonmon Castle, Fonmon. On September 5, Tulve’s North Wind, South Wind will get its premiere in Wales. In addition, also music by other Estonian composers (Age Veeroos, Galina Grigorjeva, Tatjana Kozlova, Tõnu Kõrvits, Arvo Pärt) and composers from abroad (Dai Fujikura, Gareth Churchill) will be performed.

On September 5, the music will be interwoven with readings by leading poet Philip Gross and during the interval, a supper including traditional Estonian cuisine will be served. On September 6, Resonabilis will share the stage with harpists Ruth Wall and Rhodi Davies who will perform harp music.
