Season opening concerts of the Estonian National Symphony Orchestra

 


Estonian National Symphony Orchestra

This week, Estonian National Symphony Orchestra under the guidance of its new artistic director and chief conductor Neeme Järvi will open its concert season on September 9 and 11 at 7 pm at Estonia Concert Hall in Tallinn. The concerts will mark the 75th anniversary of composer Arvo Pärt and the 150th birth anniversary of Gustav Mahler. The program consists of Arvo Pärt’s Cecilia, vergine romana for choir and orchestra (2000/2002) performed by camber choir Voces Musicales, and Symphony No. 3 (1971) and Gustav Mahler’s Symphony No. 1 in D major.

The concerts will form part of the Arvo Pärt Festival dedicated to Pärt’s 75th anniversary.
