Olav Ehala birthday concerts

On the occasion of Ehala’s 60th birthday, Estonian State Concert Institute Eesti Kontsert in cooperation with Pärnu Philharmonic Society organise concert Olav Ehala 60. Concerts starting at 7 p.m. will take place on September 23 in Jõhvi Concert Hall, September 24 in Pärnu Concert Hall, September 25 in Estonia Concert Hall and September 26 in Vanemuise Concert Hall. Ehala’s music will be performed by vocal soloists Hanna-Liina Võsa, Liisi Koikson, Elo Toodo-Jakobs, Lauri Liiv, Ott Lepland, Pärnu City Orchestra, vocal ensemble Meelega and Tartu Youth Choir, ensemble staffed by Toomas Rull, Ain Varts, Jaak Jürisson, Taavo Remmel and Margus Tammemägi, conductor Paul Mägi and Mihhail Gertz (in Jõhvi).

On July 31, composer, pianist and pedagogue Olav Ehala celebrated his 60th birthday. Long-time chairman of the Estonian Composers’ Union is known in Estonian music as a beloved author of songs and film and theatre music. His songs with recognisable musical idiom belong to the treasury of Estonian music. On July 23, Ehala’s new musical performance for children premiered at Saaremaa Opera Days on the libretto by Leelo Tungal.
