Eduard Tubin Day at the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre

On October 20, the International Eduard Tubin Society will organize the Eduard Tubin Day at the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre. In June, 105 years passed since the birth date of composer Eduard Tubin – one of the seminal figures in the development of the Estonian national idiom and the father figure of Estonian symphonic music. Also the Tubin Society will celebrate its 10th anniversary.

11.30 am to 2 pm, the conference will be held at Chamber Hall, papers will be read by pianist Vardo Rumessen, musicologist Tobias Lund (Sweden) and composer’s son Eino Tubin, also documentary about Eduard Tubin will be presented.

At 7 pm, the concert in the series Jubilate will take place at Chamber Hall. Hendrik Soon (violin), Marko Martin (piano), Sigrid Kuulmann-Martin (violin) and Nadja Kurem (soprano) with pianist Piia Paemurru will perform Sonata for Solo Violin ETW 57, Sonata No. 1 in E major ETW 31, solo songs Two Songs on Poems by Juhan Liiv ETW 74 and Lullaby ETW 90 and Sonata for Violin and Piano No. 1 ETW 49 by Eduard Tubin.

After the concert at 8 pm, the 12th and 13th volume of the Eduard Tubin Complete Works will be presented at the lobby of the Chamber Hall.
