World premiere of orchestral work "Silhouette” by Arvo Pärt

On November 4, Arvo Pärt’s Silhouette for strings and percussion will be premiered in Paris. New work subtitled as Hommage à Gustave Eiffel is written in 2009 on the commission of Orchestre de Paris. At the concert in Paris Salle Pleyel, there will be performed also Edvard Grieg’s Piano Concerto (soloist Elisabeth Leonskaja) and Jean Sibelius’s Symphony No. 2. Orchestre de Paris will be conducted by its artistic director Paavo Järvi.

In the same evening, also Kristjan Järvi conducts Pärt at Kasseler Musiktage. At the concert of hr-Sinfonieorchester in Staatstheater Kassel Pärt’s Fratres for string orchestra and percussion and Tabula rasa for 2 solo violins, string orchestra and prepared piano will be performed. Live broadcast can be listened from Hessischer Rundfunk at 7 pm.

In this week, performances of Pärt’s music by Estonian interpreters will be more. On November 7, early music consort Hortus Musicus takes part in London International Festival of Exploratory Music with a concert in St. Etheldreda Church where Pärt’s Fratres, Pari intervallo and An den Wassern zu Babel saßen wir und weinten will be performed. Concert dedicated to the 75th anniversaries of Arvo Pärt and Giya Kancheli, also music by Valentin Silvestrov, Alexander Knaifel, Kancheli and Girifzen Asim Bey can be listened.
