Erkki-Sven Tüür’s 8th symphony in Germany

This week Munich Chamber Orchestra with Olari Elts conducting will give the German premiere of Erkki-Sven Tüür’s Symphony No. 8. The third program of orchestra’s subscription concert series includes also Claude Debussy’s Preludes à l’après-midi d’un faune (D.Walter’s arrangememt), Claire de Lune (André Caplet’s version) and Samuel Barber’s Knoxville, Summer of 1915 op. 24 (soprano soloist Carol McFadden). Symphony No. 8, divided into three movements, was composed at the suggestion of Olari Elts and commissioned by the Scottish Chamber Orchestra. Work has received several performances this year: first performance in April in Scotland, July in Latvia and October in Chech.
