Today, on August 18 at 8 pm, Dmitri Hvorostovsky (baritone) and Ivari Ilja (piano) will give a concert at Martin Theatre (Illinois, USA) in the framework of Ravinia Festival. The duo will perform songs by Pyotr Tchaikovsky, Sergei Rachmaninov and Nikolai Medtner. |
Dmitri Hvorostovsky is the greatest baritone of the modern age – he is well-known for his polished voice, musicality and temperament. Hvorostovsky and Ilja have performed together on different stages of the world for almost twenty years. On October 24, they will perform in the new Nokia Concert Hall, in Tallinn.
The Ravinia Festival is the oldest outdoor music festival in North America and it attracts about 600,000 listeners to 120 to 150 events over each three-month summer season. Over the years, the festival has hosted such luminaries as Louis Armstrong, Leonard Bernstein, Pablo Casals, Van Cliburn, Aaron Copland, Duke Ellington, Ella Fitzgerald, George Gershwin et al.
