Riho Päts Music Education Fund this year's award winners selected

Already for the eighth time, Riho Päts Music Education Fund acknowledged Estonia's best teachers and developers in the field of music education.

In this year, the laureates were music teacher and choir conductor Koidu Ilmjärv from the Tallinn Õismäe Humanitarian Gymnasium, cello teacher Mart Laas from the Tallinn Music High School and the Estonia Academy of Music and Theatre and conductor of the Estonian Youth Symphony Orchestra and the Chamber Orchestra of Nõmme Music School – Jüri-Ruut Kangur. For an outstanding complement of youth song repertoire, composer Mart Siimer was acknowledged and for scientific research in music education, the honorable title was given to Tiina Selke, the director of music department of the Tallinn University.
In addition to the honorable title, the nominees also will be awarded silver jewelery designed by artist Jaan Pärna and a scholarship of 15 000 Estonian Crowns.
Riho Päts Music Education Fund was founded in 2002. Composer and teacher Riho Päts (1899-1977) was an important founder of Estonian music education.
