Sten Lassmann will perform Heino Eller’s piano music

Today, on September 8 at 6 pm, one of the most outstanding Estonian young pianists Sten Lassmann will give a concert entitled Heino Eller’s piano music II. The program consists of piano pieces written in 1909–1956: Sonatina in F sharp minor, Furioso, Allegro con fuoco, Episode from Revolution Time, Sostenuto, Allegretto moderato, Chanson trieste, Andante, Larghetto, Moderato assai (Variations), Estonian Dance, Four Preludes (III book) and cycle Eight Pieces (1948). Last year Sten Lassmann also gave several concerts with piano music by Heino Eller.

Sten Lassmann (b. 1982) is one of the most outstanding pianists of younger generation in Estonia who has achieved recognition in Estonia and abroad. He has given recitals, performed as a chamber musician and appeared as a soloist with several orchestras. Lassmann has gained recognition at many piano competitions, both national and international, the most notable is the first prize at the VI National Piano competition in Tallinn (2002).
Sten Lassmann graduated as a pianist from Tallinn Music High School in 2001 with Ell Saviauk, Ira Floss and Ivari Ilja. He continued his piano studies at the Estonian Academy of Music with Ivari Ilja, receiving Bachelor’s Degree in 2005 and Master’s Degree in 2007. In 2003/2004, Lassmann studied as an exchange student at the Paris Conservatoire (Conservatoire National Superiéur de Musique et de Danse de Paris) in the class of Birgitte Engerer. In 2005-2008, Lassmann studied at the Royal Academy of Music in London with Ian Fountain, receiving Master’s Degree. In 2008, he started his PhD studies at the same academy.
