Voces Musicales 10

Chamber Choir Voces Musicales, recently awarded the 2nd prize at the International Harald Andersén Chamber Choir Competition in Finland, celebrates its 10th anniversary with the jubilee concert on September 19 at 6 pm at Estonia Concert Hall, Tallinn. Voces Musicales with Tallinn Sinfonietta, Ene Salumäe (organ), Tõnu Jõesaar (cello) and Andreas Arder (double bass) will perform under the direction of Risto Joost „Te Deum“ (1985/1992) and „Magnificat“ (1989) by Arvo Pärt, motet „Singet dem Herrn ein neues Lied“ BWV 225 by Johann Sebastian Bach and „Ich bin der Welt abhanden gekommen“ by Gustav Mahler, additionally Toivo Tulev’s brand-new piece „Light, My Light“ for a cappella mixed choir will receive its world premiere performance.


Chamber Choir Voces Musicales

Voces Musicales will also introduce their first album „Pilgrim’s Song“ (ERP, 2009) which presents vocal music by Arvo Pärt.

Chamber Choir Voces Musicales was founded in 1999 by Risto Joost who has remained the chief conductor of the choir till today. Choir has taken successfully part in several choral competitions and festivals (including France and Israel). Voces Musicales has appeared together with many outstanding musicians, ensembles (NYYD Ensemble, Hortus Musicus), orchestras (Tallinn Chamber Orchestra, Tallinn Youth Orchestra, Pärnu City Orchestra) and conductors (Neeme Järvi, Olari Elts, Arvo Volmer, Andres Mustonen, Jüri Alperten). The choir has also participated in the premieres of several new works by Estonian composers (Toivo Tulev, Timo Steiner, Ülo Krigul, Helena Tulve and others).
