Estonian musicians at the choir music festival Tenso Days

The annual Tenso Days, an international festival which is dedicated to contemporary choir music, will take place on October 15 to 18 in Amsterdam. Six choirs from all over Europe will participate in Tenso Days: chamber choir Accentus, Cappella Amsterdam, Det Norske Solistkor, Latvian Radio Choir, Netherlands Chamber Choir and Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir.

Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir, conducted by Daniel Reuss, will perform on October 17 at Muziekgebouw. The program consists of choral works by Arvo Pärt, Cyrillus Kreek and Jan Pieterszoon Sweelinck. At the gala concert on October 18, Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir will perform Pärt’s Maginicat and all the choirs who participated will sing Arnold Schönberg’s Friede auf Erden.

Estonian conductor Risto Joost has been asked to conduct the performances of the Netherlands Chamber Choir at Tenso Days. Yesterday, on October 15, the Netherlands Chamber Choir performed at the opening concert, where they sang pieces by Olivier Messiaen, André Jolivet, Jan Pieterszoon Sweelinck and Estonian composer Toivo Tulev’s work And then in Silence There with Me Be Only You (2002). On October 18, the Netherlands Chamber Choir will perform three parts from Dmitri Shostakovich’s Ten poems.
The Netherlands Chamber Choir, under the baton of Risto Joost, will also give three concerts in Arnhem, Enschede and Den Bosch on October 20 to 22.
