Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir will perform in two operas in France

In July, Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir will have once again chance to participate in two different opera projects with London Symphony Orchestra and acknowledged opera singers, directors and conductors. Giuseppe Verdi’s La Traviata and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s La clemenza di Tito will premiere at Theatre de l’Archeveche within the Aix-en-Provence Festival.

Premiere performance of Verdi’s La Traviata will take place on July 6 in cooperation with Wiener Staatsoper and Dijon Opera House. The director of the opera is Jean-François Sivadier and conductor Louis Langrée. The leading roles will be sung by Natalie Dessay or Irina Lungu, Ludovic Tézier and Charles Castronovo or Fabrizio Mercurio. Ten performances will be held from July 6 to 24.

Mozart’s La clemenza di Tito is directed by David McVicar. The leading roles will be sung by John Mark Ainsley, Carmen Giannattasio, Sarah Connolly, Anna Stephany, Simona Mihai and Darren Jeffery with Sir Colin Davis conducting. The premiere of opera will take place on July 7, next five performances will be held from July 10 to 21 in cooperation with Théâtre du Capitole in Toulouse and Marseille Opera House.

Earlier Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir has participated in Giacomo Puccini’s opera La Boheme at Luxembourg Grand Theatre in 2004 (conductor Roland Böer) and Mozart’s Idomeneo in Bremen in 2009 and in Salzburg in 2010 (conductor Marc Minkowski).
