Rein Rannap presents his new album with a concert in Tallinn Nokia Concert Hall

On november 10 at 7 pm concert-presentation of new album of Rannap’s major rock cantatas Ilus maa (The Beautiful Land, 1982) and Taevas ja maa (Heaven and Earth, 2009) will be held in Tallinn Nokia Concert Hall. In the concert will perform ensemble Kosmikud, Estonian National Male Choir, the Ellerhein Girls’ Choir under conducting of Tiia-Ester Loitme, Laur Joamets (guitars), Vambola Krigul (percussion), Priit Volmer (bass-baritone), and of course Rein Rannap himself.

Pianist, distinguished rock and pop composer and improviser Rein Rannap has acquired music education at the Tallinn Music High School and the Tallinn Conservatoire under the guidance of Virve Lippus, with further training at the Moscow Conservatoire with Lev Naumov, and in 1991-1995 at the University of Southern California in the field of composition.

Through the decades, Rein Rannap has been known through his active and varied musical activities in Estonian music life, he also is the founder, leader and keyboard player of the legendary Estonian rock groups Ruja, Noor-Eesti (Young-Estonia) and Hõim (Tribe).

For the same groups, he has written most of his now well-known and beloved songs, that all together makes more than one hundred. Additionally to cantatas and songs, Rannap’s list of works also includes music for orchestra and chamber groups, theatre and film music, and a number of piano works.
