New piece by Kristjan Kõrver will be performed by ensemble Resonabilis

On November 24 and 25, Kristjan Kõrver’s new piece Signum Magnum II for voice, Estonian kannel, flute and cello (text: the Revelation of John) will be premiered in Tartu and Tallinn. New chamber work will be performed by ensemble Resonablis at the concerts entitled rePRESSION.

The titel of the concerts refers to the fact, that the ensemble with unique selection of instruments often has to repress both composers and themselves to commission, seak and find new works to perform.

Besides the new work by Kõrver, the program also consists of Tatjana Kozlova’s Tightrobe Walker (2009) and several Estonian premieres or new arrangements of the works by foreign composers like Maria Kallionpää’s Run, Dai Fujikura’s Still Sweet, Kaija Saariaho’s Die Aussicht, Keiko Harada’s Bone++ and Georges Aperghise’s 2 songs from the vocalcycle „Cinq Calme-plats“.

Concerts starting at 7 pm will take place on November 24 at Tartu Cultural Factory and November 25 at Theatrum Hall, Tallinn.

The ensemble Resonabilis (Iris Oja – voice, Kristi Mühling – kannel, Tarmo Johannes – flute and Aare Tammesalu – cello) with unique selection of instruments was founded in 2002 by Tarmo Johannes and Kristi Mühling from Estonian renowned contemporary music performers. Composers from Estonia and abroad have written for Resonabilis to create a new repertoire: Margo Kõlar, Tatjana Kozlova, Kristjan Kõrver, Age Hirv, Märt-Matis Lill, Malle Maltis, Daan Manneke (Netherlands), Antti Auvinen (Finland), Santa Ratniece (Latvia), David Helbich (Germany).

One of the important aims for the ensemble is to perform such pieces of Western contemporary classics that are not often played in Estonian concert halls.
