Arvo Pärt’s Third Symphony conducted by Kristjan Järvi

The chief conductor of Austrian Tonkünstler-Orchestra (TKO) Kristjan Järvi conducted several performances of Arvo Pärt’s Third Symphony, dedicated to his father Neeme Järvi. On the Tonkünstler-Orchestra’s tour in United Kingdom (15– 26 February) the symphony was performed six times at 11 concerts – at Leeds Town Hall, Middlesbrough Town Hall, Bristol Colston Hall, Derby Assembly Rooms, Southern The Cliffs Pavillion and on February 26 at excellent Bridgewater Hall in Manchester. Järvi dedicated the performances of Pärt’s symphony to the 90th anniversary of Estonian Republic. Soloists in guest programmes were Nicola Benedetti and Mikhail Rudy, they performed also the works of Beethoven, Mendelssohn, Brahms, Bruch, Sibelius and John Adams.

Before the U.K. tour TKO performed Pärt’s symphony under conducting of Kristjan Järvi in the series „Nordlichter“ two times at Musikverein Great Hall in Vienna and once at Festspielhaus St. Pölten, orchestra’s residence. In october 2007 Järvi conducted three evenings in Musikverein in series „100 Jahre Tonkünstler“. On March 5 and 6 Kristjan Järvi and his Absolute Ensemble from New York will perform in Wellington, New Zealand.
