The performances of Erkki-Sven Tüür’s music in Germany, Austria, the Netherlands, Scotland, Estonia and Malaisia

The most exotic performance of Tüür’s music took place on March 8 and 9 in Kuala Lumpur Petronas Tower where Malaisian Philharmonic Orchestra played his „Passion“ under the conducting of Kevin Field. Renowned German cellist Maria Kliegel with Nina Tichman at piano performed Tüür’s „Dedication“ at Beethoven-Haus in Bonn on 29 February. On March 12 and 13 Anu Tali conducted „Zeitraum“ with Duisburger Philharmoniker at Mercatorhalle. (In October the orchestra was conducted by Hendrik Vestmann.) At Ingolstadt Festsaal, Ariel Zuckermann conducted the Cello Concerto by Tüür with Georgian Chamber Orchestra Ingolstadt, soloist was Claudio Bohórquez. In April 2008 19 performances of Tüür’s music will take place in Germany, France, Finland, Estonia and the Netherlands.

Tüür had very successful end of the year 2007: in November, Australian Chamber Orchestra and conductor Richard Tognetti gave the first performance of „Whistles and Whispers from Uluru” (dedicated to performers) on the orchestra’s tour with the presence of composer; in December, world premiere of „Questions...“ for the Hilliard Ensemble and Munich Chamber Orchestra conducted by Alexander Liebreich took place in Alte Oper Frankfurt. Anu Tali conducted his Sixth Symphony with Nordic Symphony Orchestra in Berlin and Munich at Europamusicale festival, Juha Kangas conducted „Lighthouse“ in Musikverein in Vienna, Olari Elts conducted „Oxymoron“ with Scottish Chamber Orchestra and Fifth Symphony in Dresden. Tüür’s „Confession“ for solo violin was performed at the opening concert of the festival of ECM Records, ’Perfect Silence’, in Tallinn.
