Hyperion has released new CD with Veljo Tormis’s choral music

English record company Hyperion released CD „Tormis: Choral Works” in the beginning of April. Works are performed by English chamber choir Holst Singers under the conducting of Stephen Layton. CD presents „Two Songs on to words by Ernst Enno”, Three Estonian game songs, Three songs from the epic „Kalev’s Son”, „Livonian heritage”, „Singing aboard ship”, „Autumn landscapes”, Four Estonian lullabies, „Herding calls”.

Holst Singers is an amateur collective at the professional level acknowleged in England. Beside frequent concerts and festival participations, choir has recorded over 10 CD-s choral music. The idea of recording Tormis’s music came up in 2005 while conductor Stephen Layton was in the jury of Tallinn International Choir Festival. Recording realized last year in close collaboration with composer.
